A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere tranquil existence, that I neglect my talents.
The first stop is at Goa Lawah, a temple inhabited by thousands of sacred bats, where ceremonies almost always occur. We continue to the nearby traditional salt production at the black sand beach of Kusamba and visit the small harbor town of Padangbai for lunch. On our way back, we stop at the Kertha Gosa court complex with its famous old ceiling paintings.
Experience first-hand life in a rural village. Meet friendly people and learn about culture, handicrafts, dance, agriculture, and spices. Local snacks or lunch will be served.
Visit the turtle rescue center on the half-island Serangan south of Denpasar and see the great work of the rescue team. From there, continue to Uluwatu, a temple on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean in the south of Bali. Enjoy an unforgettable sunset on the west coast of Bali (Jimbaran, Kuta, or Seminyak).
You can book this trip with a beach wheelchair for the sunset!
After a photo stop at the beautiful Tegalalang rice terraces, visit Tirta Empul, a temple of sacred springs still used for cleansing by the local people. Optionally, continue to Kintamani at the edge of the Batur crater. Enjoy the view of the large crater with Mount Batur and the Batur lake.
Take a trip northwards to Taman Ayun, a temple with the famously high Meru tower and part of the UNESCO heritage irrigation system in Bali—as are the rice terraces at Jatiluwih, our next stop. On the way back, if time allows, say ‘hello’ to the friendly monkeys in Sangeh, a forest with 40-meter-high nutmeg trees!
The center of the trip is around the traditional art in Bali! Visit the workshops of wood carvers, silver smiths, and painters around Ubud, the Mask and Puppet museum in its beautiful garden, and in the early evening, witness a Kecak Firedance performance on the famous Batubulan stage!
We take a trip into the northern mountains. Visit Ulun Danu temple, which sits in a mountain lake as if ‘floating.’ Continue to the Twin Lake viewpoint and enjoy the cool air. Optionally, stop at the Candikuning traditional market. We then turn south again to visit Bali’s landmark, Tanah Lot, a temple on a rock in the ocean.
